Around 20,000 people visited Bridlington’s new £25m leisure centre in its first week and more than 800 new members have signed up.
Adam Mainprize, senior facility manager, said: “This response has been overwhelming, with fantastic numbers of people coming to use the pool, Tone Zone, health suite and the cafe.
“We have already temporarily extended the opening hours of the Tone Zone and the Splash Zone to try to meet this demand in these early weeks of opening.
“We anticipate this level of demand will continue for the rest of the school holiday week, and hope that our customers will heed our earlier advice to visit the centre outside peak times where possible, to get maximum enjoyment from these superb new facilities in the heart of Bridlington.”
The Splash Zone pool area was booked to capacity for the whole of Wednesday before lunchtime.
