Bridlington’s first team are up to sixth place in the Yorkshire Hockey League Premier Division after hammering Halifax 2nds 9-0 at the weekend.

The two sides were promoted together last season but have had differing fortunes in the top flight.

Sarah Turner led the way for the hosts with four goals, with Booey Brown, Kasey Hill, Amy Hill and Di Levitt also on the scoresheet.

Bridlington have won four of their first eight games, but Halifax have lost all their matches and are rooted to the foot of the table.

Things will be much tougher this weekend, as unbeaten league leaders Leeds 2nds arrive at Bridlington School. They have built their winning run on a strong defence which has seen them concede just six goals in nine games.

Bridlington’s second team return to action on Saturday, after several weeks off, when they host Hull Circle in Division Five East.
