April 1 promises to be no joke for staff from Lloyd Dowson as they will be cycling from Scarborough to Bridlington to raise money for The Alzheimer’s Society.
Inspired by the Tour De Yorkshire race, the cyclists will start out from the company’s Scarborough office on Falsgrave Road and will finish at Bridlington Spa - a total of 22 miles.
Some members of the Lloyd Dowson team will complete double that though, riding from Bridlington to Scarborough before beginning the trip back with the rest of the team from their Scarborough office.
The company’s marketing manager Vanessa Rowbottom said: “The Tour De Yorkshire has been a great inspiration for the team to do the bike ride.
“We have several members of our team who are serious cyclists and they have welcomed the opportunity to take part in the ride and raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.”
The Alzheimer’s Society has been selected to be the official charity partner of the Tour de Yorkshire 2017, with more than 850,000 people currently living with dementia across the county.
Zoe Barraclough, community fund-raiser, said: “We are extremely grateful for the support of companies such as Lloyd Dowson who are taking on the challenge of a sponsored bike ride to celebrate our partnership with Tour de Yorkshire.
“Funds raised will help support our vital work in medical and social research, advice and support and social action.
We also look forward to engaging new audiences with our Dementia Friendly initiatives, which help make life better for all those affected by dementia in our communities”
