It was the biggest competition Bridlington Gymnastics Club had been involved in - and their three youngsters exceeded all expectations.
Sammie Kershaw, Leah Colman and Ruby Simpson all secured top four finishes as they represented the United Kingdom at the IAIGC World Championships in Florida.
Coach Laura Deamer, who went to America with them, said: “No words can express just how proud we are of all three of our girls.
“Their hard work and dedication certainly paid off. And of course the hard work and dedication of the coaches that were responsible for getting the girls ready to undertake such a massive challenge in their gymnastic journey.”
The trio had to take on extra training sessions, change their routines and work on harder techniques as part of their preparations for their first experience of international competition.
Deamer added: “We would also like to thank all three of the girls’ families who have played a massive part in helping to raise the much-needed funding to get the girls to Florida, plus all our other gymnasts and parents who have helped by attending all the fund-raising events.
“A big thank you also goes out to all that have helped with donations to the club to help the girls on their way and all those that offered venues to hold fund-raising events.”
