Bridlington RUFC U17 38
Beverley RUFC U17 7
BRIDLINGTON made it nine wins in a row at the weekend, beating Beverley with virtually the same score line as the corresponding away fixture back in November.
The home side went ahead after just five minutes when Sam Emmerson marched through a static defence to place the ball under the posts, followed by an easy conversion.
Beverley briefly drew level when they scored their only try and conversion of the game and even threatened to take the lead midway through the half, but were denied by a brave try-saving tackle from Josh Bowles.
Bridlington have greatly improved in the line out and when Tom Harwood won another line out, the ball was fed from Sam Wragg to Emmerson to Tom Benninger to run the ball over near the corner.
Emmerson scored a good conversion from a tight angle.
The half ended with a try by Sam Wragg for the home side following good play between Mike Clayton and Rob Tindall,.
Emmerson was unlucky to see his kick strike the post and drop the wrong side, to leave the half time score 19-7 in favour of Bridlington.
Bridlington were quickly out of the blocks in the second half and wasted no time in extending their lead.
Benninger scored his second try after he went on an impressive run, interchanged a quick pass with Olly Stephenson to then score in the corner.
The home side continued to dominate the game and added another try after winning possession from a Beverley line out.
The ball was switched to Mike Clayton who evaded several tackles as he ran down the right flank before switching inside to score near the posts and Emmerson converted successfully.
When Beverley briefly threatened to add to their total, Bowles was once again on hand to deny a try with a fine tackle.
The game ended with a long kick and run by Emmerson to just beat his man to pounce on the ball over the try line and he added another conversion.
