Martongate pupils take the top spot in school golf competition

Teams of year five and six pupils competed in the Bridlington School’s Partnership Golf competition. The team had to complete 10 sessions, each testing different skills needed in the sport.

The results were:

1st: Martongate 1,149 points

2nd: Burlington 971pts

3rd: Boynton/Wold Newton 2 880pts

4th: Hilderthorpe 2 813pts

5th: Quay 808pts

6th: Bay 793pts

7th: Hilderthorpe 1 746pts

8th: Boynton/Wold Newton1 721pts

9th: Our Lady and St Peter’s 718pts

10th: New Pasture Lane 688pts

11th: Flamborough 651pts

The winning Martongate team were Ella Cheetham, Molissa McGinnis, Emily Williams, Lizzie Temple, Olivia Kelly, Ben Hindson, Sam Flowerdew, Jed Oyston, Jack Green, Frankie Gascoigne and Ryan Galloway.

They are waiting to hear if they have qualified for the Humber Games competition in July.

There was also success for Martongate in the East Riding Schools Orienteering Competition.

Twelve pupils from years five and six qualified from the partnership competition to compete in the East Riding Schools round at Burton Constable Hall.

Out of the 16 Year Five teams, Martongate were placed fourth and out of the 15 Year Six teams, Martongate were placed 5th.

This resulted in both the schools teams qualifying for the Humber Games Finals on 12 July.

Those involved were Ryan Galloway, Jed Oyston, Declan Potts, Harry Pearson, Reece Smithson, Frankie Gascoigne, Lizzie Temple, Olivia Kelly, Ryan Langham, Matthew Thomas and Miller Haynes Thomas.
