Bridlington ABC felt their boxer Jack Marshall was unlucky to lose in the National Schools Championships on Sunday.
Marshall was drawn against England number two Henry Tyers from Doncaster in the Yorkshire semi-finals, but lost on a split decision.
Bridlington head coach Damien Grant said: “I’m very, very proud of this lad. I really thought Jack had won but no disappointment at all.
“It was his first year in a championship and rose to the occasion well and boxed to instruction.”
Marshall’s team-mates Cam Connelly and Emily Asquith received byes into the next round.
