“UNFORTUNATELY we were just carrying too many injuries and squad changes to be able to keep our winning streak going on the long trip to Ribblesdale.
“Having lost key players such as Ali Sutton, Ben Lawry and Sizwe Zondo in the week before the game we were dealt another major blow when influential stand off Jamie Muru was forced out with a back injury the night before the game.
“Despite shuffling our squad we found ourselves very disjointed against a highly motivated side who were looking to record their first win and get their season started.
“That is to take nothing away from the home side though as we would have still found the task extremely difficult even with a fully fit team to choose from.
“Our discipline was unusally poor whileour communication and defence was also pretty shabby.
“We won’t dwell too long on the result though and instead work hard during training this week looking ahead to our home test against Dinnington who recorded a fine win against Castleford last week.
“We are without Gareth Roberts who returns to university with severe concussion from last week while there are still doubts over Ben Lawry and Sizwe Zondo.
“My ageing legs have finally given way when I pulled my hamstring on Saturday which will need a couple of weeks rest so it will give some of the squad players an extra chance to stake a claim for a permanent first team place.
“Once again we are hoping for another big crowd down at Dukes Park to generate an atmosphere like the Scarborough game and hopefully we will offer similar amounts of entertainment.
“One thing we will all guarantee this weekend is that it wont be for the lack of trying.”
