The latest round of the East Hull Harriers Summer League saw an eight-mile run along country lanes in hot and humid conditions

Bridlington Road Runners sent 17 members for the longest race in the series, and first home was Phill Taylor, third overall in 44:17.

Simon Ellerker had an excellent run and was fifth in the handicap system and 29th overall in 52:40, while not far behind was junior Josh Taylor in 54:09.

Janet Potter was Bridlington’s first lady and won her age group in 58:35, and Emma Artley continued her excellent form to win her age category in 1:01:28.

Another warm evening on Friday, greeted runners in the popular Walkington 10k race.

Phill Taylor was sixth in 34:56 with Shaun Pickering next for the club in 39:10. Josh Taylor was first junior in 39:26, while Andy Baker had another good run in 42:29 and Justine Sutcliffe was BRR’s first lady home in 49:55.

Saturday’s Sewerby Parkrun 5km saw 25 club members. Josh Taylor was fourth on a beautiful sunny morning in 20:17 and two other juniors also had good runs with Ashley Porter and Cameron Sissons finishing in 22:21 and 22:59.

Samantha Pickering had a brilliant run, obtaining a personal best time of 26:12.

Patricia Bielby took part in the Dewsbury Parkrun, finishing in 24.30 with Bill Pike taking part at Hull, clocking 21:29.

On Sunday, junior Shaun Foster completed the Lytham St Anne’s 5km fun run, finishing 19th in 20:31.

On the same day, the Dalby Forest 10k was a very tough course with some very steep hills and descent, complete with knee-deep muddy trenches to navigate.

Baker was first home in 56:06 and was 11th overall, followed by Bob Eyre celebrating his 72nd birthday in style in 1:08:42, Booey Brown in 1:10:02 and Dominique Webster in 1:11:42.

Vickie Ellerker was next in 1:24:56, followed by Lyn Gent, Cindy Baker and Catherine Thornton who all ran together finishing in 1:42:43 crossing the line holding hands.

The half-marathon took in additional trails to the 10K, but that made up the second half of the race.

Simon Porter and Emma Artley ran together, even stopping to help other runners with some very steep descents, finishing strongly in 2:06:31.

Justine Sutcliffe and Cath Wood ran together and completed the course in 2:13:09, next home was Charlie Kilburn in 2:27.12 and Dave Foster completed the route in 2:38:19, all thoroughly enjoying the experience.

There was a junior fun run too over 1.5km, and Robyn Sutcliffe, 12, ran a fantastic time of 8:57.
