Bridlington Links’ Monthly Medal doubled up with the Lombard qualifier, with the overall winner on the day getting the opportunity to play later in the year in a competition hosted by Fulford Golf Club with the Links professional, Daniel Connell.
Near perfect playing conditions promissed some good scoring and the competitors did not disappoint with 20 players shooting par or better.
The overall winner of the competition was the popular Guy Lakin who took the opportunity to play his best ever golf with a nett 63 (87-24) which was the first time he had broken 90 off white tees.
Heading the second division, but unable to win the competition due to not having played sufficent qualifiers, was John Carter who scored a sensational nett 62 (87-25).
Pete Dickens in third also shot another fine round of 65 (84-19).
It is great to see a number of new faces not only entering the weekly competitions but competing strongly.
There were a number of fine scores in the first division also with Nigel Connell winning with a nett 67 (76-9) followed closely by Mike Mowforth with 78 (80-12).
Guy Russett had the best gross of the day of 74, playing off a handicap of six.
There were seven twos from Andy E Smith, Graham Patterson, Shaun Bradley, Neil Potter, Darren Maycock and two from Frank Wilson.
