IF YOU thought it was hot in Bridlington at the weekend, spare a thought for lifeguard Ryan Hepworth.

He is in Hawaii, battling temperatures of close to 40C, as he prepares for Saturday’s Iron Man Triathlon World Championships.

Hepworth will swim 2.4 miles, cycle 112 miles and run a full 26-mile marathon, against the world’s best endurance athletes.

The gruelling challenge took him around 10 hours in the British Championships in Bolton in August, but the heat and humidity will make this race even tougher.
