For most golfers, a hole-in-one would be the highlight of their year. But for Steve Edmond, it was only the start of a wonderful week.
He landed an ace on the 17th at Bridlington Links in the Commerford Memorial Pairs, and four days later became a grandad as daughter Rachel gave birth to Milo.
Edmond, who plays off a handicap of 17, said: “I wasn’t in very good form at all, so this came out of the blue. It’s a strange feeling to describe.
“We watched it bounce twice and roll in. It was quite a vocal celebration for a group of middle-aged men.
“Everyone at the club has been great. It’s a great achievement because I only started golf in my mid-40s.”
