Hilderthorpe Primary and Wold Newton School represented the Bridlington area at badminton in the Humber Games Level Three Finals at Ennerdale Leisure Centre in Hull.
There were 16 schools at the event from North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire and Hull.
Hilderthorpe won all three of their first three pool matches comfortably.
They beat the North Lincolnshire team from Winteringham 29-20, Fairfield from North East Lincolnshire 29-21 and Christopher Pickering from Hull 39-11.
Wold Newton also won their group without too many problems, as three of the four semi-finalists were from the East Riding.
The two schools went head-to-head in the last four. The pressure eventually told on Wold Newton, and Hilderthorpe beat them 28-18.
They moved forward to the final where they faced Molescroft from Beverley. An exciting all-East Riding match followed, with the teams neck and neck throughout, with Molescroft just pipping Hilderthorpe in the last few minutes of the game 27-25.
Hilderthorpe collected their runners-up certificates and can be proud of a fantastic performance throughout the afternoon.
Wold Newton staff were also proud of their pupils’ efforts.
Finishing fourth was a huge achievement for the village school , which only has a 7ft high hall and no other place to train.
