Bridlington’s Stuart Hicken is waiting to hear if he has been accepted into the London International Martial Arts Hall Of Fame.
He has been invited to an event in Kensington in June, when the announcement will officially be made.
Hicken, who is head coach at Bridlington Martial Arts and Fitness Centre in Hilderthorpe Road, was nominated for the accolade by American master Frank Sanchez and has been shortlisted in the Grand Master Of The Year category.
The pair met in Portugal earlier this month, when Hicken and his son Franklyn were invited to represent England at a martial arts and self defence seminar.
Experts from around Europe attended and the Bridlington duo picked up gold and silver medals .
Before the London trip, Hicken is pressing ahead with organising an international gathering of masters at Leisure World next month.
And a group of students from Bridlington are heading to Japan this summer.
