The popular Brass Monkey Half Marathon was held in York at the weekend and three members of Bridlington Road Runners were among the 1,500 runners taking part.
It was a sunny morning but the temperature was -1C as the race began. However, with the benefit of gritted roads, and a sunny morning, running conditions saw some excellent times.
The race was won by Dan Kestral of Barnsley AC in 1:08:52. Phill Taylor, currently in training for the Manchester Marathon, finished in 11th place in a personal best time for the distance of 1:11:50.
Sarah Wood is only six weeks away from travelling to Japan to compete in the Tokyo Marathon. She woke with a cold on the morning of the race but was still able to put in a PB performance to finish in 1:33:06.
The third member of the trio was Josh Taylor who put in a solid run to complete the course in 1:36:51, which was his second fastest time.
The weather was also icy on Saturday morning for Sewerby Parkrun. Defying the slippery footing, 142 runners took part and, of these, 30 were members of Bridlington RR. The leading club member was Scott Hargreaves in fourth place with 19:42 and he was closely followed by Nick Jordan who was sixth in 20:09.
Zoe Ruston was the club’s first female member home in third place in another good time of 25:04. Several of the club’s juniors were also well placed with Lewis Dale home in 12th with 21:21 and Ashley Porter 16th in a time of 22:22.
