BRIDLINGTON Golf Club youngster Jonathan Pearce finished another impressive season in style by winning the East Riding Junior Matchplay Championship at Hull Golf Club.

Pearce won the event by beating two of the best juniors in the area.

Firstly, he won a very tight semi-final, beating talented Cottingham Golf Club member Lewis Blanchard on the very last hole.

Pearce then went on to beat Joe Coyle from Burstwick Golf Club in a very tense final by a winning margin of two holes.

He was delighted to win the Matchplay trophy and the win more than made up for the fact that he only managed to finish runner-up this year in the East Riding Order of Merit Trophy, an event he has won the previous two years.

During the year Pearce has seen his handicap reduce to an impressive one handicap, and he has represented the East Riding County team at both senior level and junior level as well as achieving the honour of representing Yorkshire at Junior Level.

He starts a new chapter in his golfing life now as he turned 18 last week and following a glittering junior career everyone at the Belvedere club wishes him well now that he officially joins the senior ranks.
