Former European super-bantamweight champion Spencer Oliver dropped in at Bridlington ABC at the weekend to pass on tips to local boxers.
Oliver, who is now a trainer and media pundit, spent time coaching the Bridlington youngsters, who are preparing for their bouts at the Spa next month
Coach Graham Hebden said: “He was with us for about an hour. We showed him round the facilities and introduced him to Damien Grant our head coach.
“He was asking questions about how many boxers we have and in what age groups.
“We had eight boxers in the gym and he was watching them and found the time to have a chat with all of them, giving them things to work on and words of advice.
“Some of the kids didn’t know about his background, but when he came in, they all recognised him because of his work on TV. He was really good and made sure he did a bit with every boxer.”
After leaving the club in Thorpe Street, Oliver headed to Hull for the professional show which featured Curtis Woodhouse and Tommy Coyle.
