BRIDLINGTON’S first team beat Doncaster B in the Division Two of the Yorkshire League.

It was a fantastic victory which could mean they retain their place in the division next season.

Shaun Fell was unlucky to lose 15-21 21-18 18-21 in singles to C Harrop. but veterans Paul Robinson and Nigel Fell rolled back the years and probably played their best badminton for some time.

They won both their men’s doubles quite convincingly in two games against both men’s pairs from Doncaster.

Shaun Fell and Liam Whittington lost both their matches.

The ladies doubles Claire Park and Kate Manson beat Doncaster’s second pair 21-14 21-16 and beat the first pair 17-21 21-19 21-19 in a fantastic match.

Jo Robinson and Justine Beadnall were outstanding as they beat Doncaster’s second pair 21-14 21-14.

But they lost to the visitors’ first couple 14-21 26-24 11-21, despite a good performance by Brid’s second pair.

Bridlington won three out of the four mixed matches. Robinson and Park didn’t play well but their battling qualities won them the match 22-20 21-18.

Nigel Fell and Manson played by far their best match for years winning 21-18 21-11.

Unlucky Shaun Fell and Beadnall lost 19-21 21-14 14-21, but Whittington and Jo Robinson won the match for Brid in dramatic circumstances, with Robinson keeping her cool when serving for victory, 20-22 21-16 22-20.

A great team performance and Shaun Fell did not win a match but what effort by the youngster and he has a fantastic attitude like his dad for badminton.
