After returning from the Isle of Man, James Cowton of Kilham had competed in the Southern 100 Road Race Meeting, where he sucessfully achieved podium positions.
This set him up for the Cock of the North meeting held at Scarborough’s Oliver’s Mount circuit.
Cowton and the his race team headed up to Oliver’s Mount for the two-day meeting last weekend, preparing for him to ride three different bikes over the weekend, a Honda CBR600, a Kawasaki ER6 and a TZ 250 Pete Berwick Yamaha so he was going to be very busy over the two days jumping from one machine to the other.
Practice went well and Cowton achieved some good grid positions on all bikes.
Over the two days, Cowton had some great results considering the opposition he was up against.
On the Yamaha, Cowton got a second on Saturday and a first on Sunday, while on the Honda he got a fourth on Saturday and a fifth on Sunday.
He added to that with two fourths on the Kawasaki.
In the big race of the weekend, the Cock of the North Final, Cowton was on board his CBR600 Honda and finished fourth, which was a fantastic achievement considering all the first three riders were on the bigger 1000cc machines.
Cowton and the team would like to thank all his sponsors for their help. Anybody interested in adding their support can call his dad Fran on 01262 420399.
