KILHAM’S Rachel Bell won her first pro tournament of the 2012 season at a rain-soaked Abbotsley Golf Club in Cambridgeshire.
Bell shot 74 and 72 to win by a massive seven shots.
She said: “The course was playing very long because of the unusually wet weather and fortunately this favoured my game.
“I’m used to playing at Ganton Golf Club which can play very long depending on the wind direction.
“It’s very pleasing to win a tournament and even more satisfying to win by such a big margin.”
Bell, who finished in third place in her last tournament on the Ladies Access Series in Oslo is happy with her game.
She said: “I’m striking the ball really well and my swing feels great.
“I have a tournament this week in Spain, then I’m off to Finland so I’m hoping to play myself into even better form ahead of pre-qualifying for the Women’s British Open at the end of August.”
Her win cemented a July double for her coach David Llewellyn who also coaches Jamie Donaldson who has just won the Irish Open on the men’s European Tour.
Llewellyn said, “Rachel works very hard at her game. Her swing is fantastic and her short game has caught up with her long game.
“She has a fantastic attitude.
“She has it all, which makes my job very easy and I expect her to win many more times in her career.”
