Bridlington U10s have joined the Yorkshire League for the first time this year and have gained promotion each month that they have played.
In the most recent round of matches, they were placed in Division Two where they played Sheffield, Airedale, Chapeltown and York.
All the players raised their game and played some skilful and thoughtful hockey.
They played York in their first game and against the run of play went one down.
After the restart, they showed great spirit and fought back to win the game 3-1 and get off to a promising start.
The second game against Chapeltown also resulted in an impressive 4-0 win.
The next game against Sheffield threw up some challenging attacks but Bridlington’s defence was strong enough to keep a clean sheet, while the midfield and forwards made short work of putting away four goals.
The final game against Airedale was frustrating with Bridlington having several chances but eventually their perseverance was rewarded with a goal to ensure a 100% record.
This means that Bridlington’s youngsters have reached Division One for the first time.
They will be playing against much larger clubs with experienced players but that shows how far they have come with their training.
Without exception all the squad were outstanding. Joe Pratley, Tom Shephard, Jack Shephard, Toby Gee, Millie Rowbottom, Georgia Goodlad, Harvey Asquith and Tom Manson all have a good hockey future ahead of them.
