Sewerby batting v Studley Royal

Studley Royal were the visitors to the cliff top on Saturday and having won the toss, asked Sewerby 1sts to bat first.

The loss of two quick wickets saw the hosts at 12/2 but a stand of 43 between Mark Tennant and Russ Robinson took the score to 55 before Tennant was out for 11.

Robinson was out for 39 with score at 75/3 more quick wickets saw Sewerby slump to 87/7. A stand of 35 between Lewis Beasley and Lyndon Warcup took the score to 122 but when Beasley was out for 23 the innings folded to 126 all out - Warcup being the last man out for 13.

With such a low total Sewerby needed a quick breakthrough and a fiery opening spell from Tom Chippendale and Russ Robinson reduced Studley to 19/4 after seven overs.

A partnership of 29 between Rob Nicholson and Matt Load took them to 48/5 before Load was out for 15. Nicholson stayed firm but when he was out for a fine 56, 34 runs were still needed with two wickets in hand.

Craig Broadley with 20 helped the score to 117 before he was out leaving 10 to win, but the last wicket pair of Andy Mackle and Paul Scatchard took sensible singles to take Studley to the winning target with eight balls to spare.

For Sewerby Chippendale took 4-24 and Robinson 3-28 both from 15 overs.
