Ace Tim Malkin snaps up 10th hole-in-one on return to action at Bridlington Links Golf Club

On his first game back after lockdown, Bridlington Links Golf Club member Tim Malkin couldn’t have asked for a better start when he hit the perfect tee shot on the par three 16th.

His ball pitched 18 inches in front of the hole, bounced once, then disappeared down the cup for a hole in one.

Malkin’s playing partner on the day Matty Whitehead, said: “Some people go through their entire golfing life without achieving a hole-in-one, but for Tim this was nothing new as it was his 10th.

“Well done sir, fantastic shot.”

Last Tuesday saw the Links EGGS (Elderly Gentlemen Golf Section) return to the fairways with a best two from four being played.

The winning team of John Plowright, John Neill, Shaun Duckwith and Dave Sherwin came home with a great score of 85 stableford points with runners-up Ron Howarth, Brian Isham, Peter Rudlinton and Ian Sawyer on 82 points.

A nine-hole variation of the game was also played on the day and the team of Taff Davies, John Lamont, Mal Eades and Micky McNamara winning with 44 points from Vic Burt, Chris Linley, Dave Spencer and Eric Giles, who claimed 43.

On Thursday a nine-hole betterball pairs was played with the in-form Micky McNamara and Tom Muckley winning with 24 points closely followed in by Shaun Duckwith and Fred Vine on 23.

There were two twos recorded, John Paterson and Ron Howarth both on the 14th.

The Links ladies section has now resumed with the first competition on Thursday April 1.
