Struggling Sports Club spring a surprise on Town
A disappointing performance resulted in Beverley dropping three points to second-to-bottom Bridlington Sports Club, a side they had beaten twice already this season.
The game was one of those you had to grind away at to get the points as both sides gave possession away easily.
In the early stages, Town’s Hirst had a shot saved and from the corner, Conroy’s overhead kick went wide.
The second half settled into a similar pattern as few chances were created. Bridlington were awarded a penalty when Conroy pulled back his runner but Dean Douthwaite’s kick was put wide.
Shortly afterwards, Bridlington took the lead when a fine diagonal pass picked out Josh Christlow’s run. His first touch was very good and the finish into the far post left Nicholson with no chance.
Town changed things around but despite the possession couldn’t create a clear chance to give themselves an opportunity to get back in the game.
This Saturday, the firsts entertain Wawne United at Norwood, the Reserves travel to play Bridlington Town Reserves and the Academy are away at Eddie Beadle FC.
