BRIDLINGTON Town enter the FA Cup this weekend full of confidence after a 7-0 thrashing of Selby Town on Saturday.

The result was new manager Mitch Cook’s first win in a competitive game, and sets the Seasiders up nicely for their cup trip to Barton Town Old Boys.

Full-back Danny Brunton, who is being sponsored by the Free Press this season, made his first start of the season against The Robins.

He said: “Saturday was a great result and performance which will hopefully not only provide the players with confidence but also the fans.

“Mitch has brought some bright new ideas and the philosophy to play the game the right way which we demonstrated very well at times against Selby.

“The passing throughout the team and the movement of the attack and midfield was excellent, however we all know this is only one game so there is much more hard work to be done.

“Having worked with the new players brought in and the squad members from last season I know we’ll be doing our very best to further improve and have another successful season.”

If Saturday’s cup tie is a draw, there will be a replay at Queensgate next Tuesday. If not, the Seasiders face Retford in the league on that date.
