Bridlington’s Harrison Male was between the sticks when England U16s kicked off in the Tournoi International in France last week.
The Leeds United youngster was in goal for the opening game against Japan at the Stade Didier Pironi in Paris last Tuesday.
He watched his team-mates take an early two-goal lead, but Japan levelled before half-time.
England went back in front early in the second half but two goals in the last four minutes saw Japan win 4-3.
The England squad’s other goalkeeper, Thomas McGill of Brighton and Hove Albion, was chosen for the second game of the competition. Male was an unused substitute as Holland grabbed an injury time equaliser for a 2-2 draw.
The final game saw England go down 3-0 to hosts France on Saturday.
