A LOCAL cup match became more of a double D-cup match when a page three girl turned up to run the line.
Gypsey Road playing fields is probably not the most glamorous location glamour model Verena Twigg has posed.
But she arrived there on Saturday to hold the flag at the Driffield League Challenge Cup tie between Bridlington Tigers and Langtoft.
After the furore over Sky TV presenters Richard Keys and Andy Gray, and their off-air comments about Premiership lineswoman Sian Massey, the Daily Sport newspaper ran a tongue-in-cheek competition to win one of their models.
Tigers manager Simon Lowe entered and got a call to say Verena was being sent to Bridlington for the day.
“It was a good laugh. We haven’t been scoring recently so I thought this might give the lads a lift. And it worked because we won 1-0, even if Verena did only run the line for about five minutes.
“The lads didn’t believe me at first when I told them, but we easily managed to get a full squad for the game. Some of the Tigers WAGs came and they all took it in good humour.”
