IN A well contested local derby Foresters’ came out deserved winners with a victory that puts them in second place in the division.

Forum started the game on the front foot and were playing some good passing football but the visitors were able to soak up the pressure, despite losing central defender and captain Lee Avison after four minutes due to injury.

Craig Zipfel came on as sub and within minutes and some reorganising Foresters settled into a better rhythm.

This paid off after 20 minutes when under pressure in the area the Forum defender deflected the ball past his own ‘keeper.

This unsettled the home side and Foresters started to take control when after 30 minutes Dave Tindall released Foresters man of the match Sam Jordan on a run from the right which he finished with a great strike across the keeper into the bottom left corner.

Within minutes a mistake in the Forum defence allowed Foresters’ Mark Bolton to beat the keeper to the ball and coolly take it round him and walk it into goal.

Foresters’ could have put this game beyond doubt before the break but could not convert two or three good opportunities and with half time only a minute away the visitors lost concentration and allowed Chris Greenwood to finish from close range following a quick break.

Foresters’ dominated the second half and were rewarded with two good goals although it could have been more had other well constructed chances been finished.

The first a great header at the far post from Tony Emmerson following an excellent delivery from Jordan’s corner.

The second came from the ever reliable striker Bolton when he beat the offside trap to fire hard and low past the advancing keeper.

At 1-5 up and seemingly safe the visitors relaxed and allowed the home side back into the game with two Greenwood goals in the last 10 minutes to complete his hat-trick, despite Liam Whittington in the Foresters’ goal pulling off two great saves.

Another good victory for Foresters’ but still plenty of tough games coming up so standards must not be allowed to drop and spoil everything that has been achieved.
