Town returned to action against a Holme Rovers team who made them work hard the last time the two sides met.
But they found the second meeting much more comfortable. After netting a last-minute winner last time, the Seasiders cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win at East Riding College to stay clear of the pack in East Riding County League.
Town started brightly, Chris Eyre and James Faulkner both going close and Matty Richardson causing problems on the left.
They took the lead when Richardson linked well and crossed for Eyre and his first shot hit the crossbar but with his follow up made no mistake.
Eyre made it 2-0 soon afterwards when Frankie Reffold’s cross was headed home.
Man of the match Louis Gregory and Liam Fraser was commanding the middle of the park and Holme were lucky it was only 2-0 at the break.
Town continued on the front foot in the second half and early pressure paid off as Reffold made it 3-0.
Barnes, Nathan Pickering and Louis Rafter were introduced for Fraser, Richardson and Josh Morritt and were also into the thick of it.
Reffold got his second after some good individual work cutting in on the left and making no mistake to add a fourth goal.
Eyre and Reffold were both chasing a hat-trick and had excellent opportunities but Holme’s keeper was in good form, while Pickering also had an effort saved.
Town ran out clear winners and should have scored a lot more had it not been for the visitors’ keeper but Town’s excellent defensive display and solid midfield performance didn’t give Holme one opportunity.
