Cook’s Corner

Bridlington Town manager Mitch Cook’s views on the 5-0 win at Lincoln Moorlands Railway. Town travel to Hall Road Rangers tonight.

“IT WAS a difficult afternoon from the off.

“We were in a no-win situation, and we had plenty to lose.

“People are saying we only scored five when Scarborough scored 10 there.

“They would have moaned if we would have conceded a goal there because they have scored so few, and if we had lost we would have been a laughing stock.

“So I was just pleased to get this game out of the way, although I understand Lincoln’s problems and I have every sympathy with them.

“In the end, we got the three points, we didn’t concede. I wanted more goals and hopefully results against Lincoln Moorlands will not decide the league title.

“We didn’t play well, it wasn’t an enjoyable day and I think the players feel the same. They didn’t have to work hard to win the game.

“Hall Road Rangers will be completely different. They had a great win at the weekend and they will be up for it.

“They are going to be on a high, because for them, this is their big game.

“Because of how close they are to us, we are a scalp.

“Carl Stewart is on holiday and misses Wednesday and Saturday, but Josh Greening is back and came off the bench on Saturday.

“Maltby Main will be another test at the weekend.

“In some people’s eyes they cost us the league title on the opening day of last season and we are under no illusions.

“But we will work hard and it is a game I expect to win.

“Teams at the top seem to be winning every single week. We’ve got to maintain that and cope with the pressure.

“But what a wonderful month we have had in September. Eight games and eight wins.

“Carl Stewart scored in every game, Nathan Cook has scored in the last three and so many good things have come out of recent matches.

“It has been unbelievable.”
