Burlington Jackdaws hot-shots happy to return to action
Bridlington-based junior football club Burlington Jackdaws returned to grassroots action on Sunday with three teams at home.
Jackdaws chairman Chris Kirkham said: “There were goals aplenty and it was good to see them back in their teams with friends in the fresh air again.
“The Under-12s and Under-14s both kicked off back in the Hull & District Youth League and the Under-16s began with a friendly match.”
The Under-12s lost 2-1 at Bridlington Sports Centre to Withernsea Buffaloes in a keenly-contested encounter, while the Under-14s lost 4-2 to visitors East Hull Spartans.
“The rest of the club’s teams restart this Sunday with the Under-11s, Under-10s, Under-Nines and Under-Eights all resuming the league campaigns, which is now open until June.
“The club are on the lookout for any referees that can help on matchdays , please email [email protected]
“With a hectic fixture list ahead for the seven teams, it is hoped they can complete each team’s season and work towards the end of club presentation in July.”
This Sunday, the Jackdaws Under-11s team are at South Cave Sporting in the Drypool League, while the Under-12s make the trip to Wilberforce College to take on St Andrews FC in their Kingston League.
Burlington Under-14s are also on their travels, taking on Shiptonthorpe United at Market Weighton School in the league, while the Under-16s resume their league campaign at South Cave Sporting.
