Bridlington Town Reserves raring to go for Blackburn game
Bridlington Town Reserves are raring to go ahead of their first game back in action in the Humber Premier League Premier Division at Blackburn Athletic.
The Seasiders’ second string will play this first game since the latest lockdown on Saturday, 2pm kick-off.
Manager Terry Finney told The Bridlington Free Press: “The whole team are looking forward to returning and they have all been doing their own fitness running during lockdown and posting their times on our group chat.
“With the first team’s NCEL Premier Division season having been null and voided this promotes us to being the local senior team, and when the spectators are allowed into Queensgate hopefully they will get down and cheer the lads on.”
Town Reserves’ next game is a trip to tackle Easington United on Saturday April 10, and their first home game of the restart, at their Queensgate ground, will come on Saturday April 17, with Hessle Sporting Club making the trip north.
The Seasiders also play at home in their next game against Brandesburton AFC on April 24, and on Wednesday April 28 they are at Queensgate yet again, with Reckitts AFC 2nds the visiting team on this occasion.
Town’s reserves then head to St Mary’s AFC on May 1, then Sproatley Juniors a week later and finish off with a home match against Cherry Burton on May 15.
Boss Finney has also been boosted by the return of two key players to his squad for the remainder of the league campaign.
The manager added: “We have been boosted with the return of midfielders James Faulkner and Lee Micklethwaite for the rest of the season.”
