Bridlington Town player-boss Brett Agnew ready for Penistone test
Bridlington Town player-manager Brett Agnew believes that his side’s goalless draw with Staveley Miners Welfare was a missed opportunity for the Seasiders.
His side played out a goalless draw on the road to leave them in seventh position in the NCEL Premier Division and Agnew praised his side’s performance.
He said: “Staveley are in form and haven’t been beaten at home all season so it was a good point for us away from home.
“Both sides had good chances throughout the game and I believe that both sides should have had a penalty awarded each, but that’s football.
“It’s important not to panic, all the sides are close together in the league and if we string a few performances together we could be near the top in the near future.”
Agnew’s side are looking to start the new year with three points at home to league high-flyers Penistone Church on Saturday.
Agnew added: “It’ll be a really tough game for us but we’re keen to get back to winning ways and sort our home form out.
“We must ensure that we are ruthless in front of goal and start taking the chances that we create.
“They’re a dangerous side and we will need to be at our best to win the game.”
