Bridlington Town boss closes in on new signings

Bridlington Town player-boss Brett Agnew is hoping to secure another couple of signings this weekend as he continues to build his squad for the 2020-21 campaign.

Several new faces have been attending training with the Seasiders, and Agnew looks set to complete the signing of at least one of them this weekend.

He said: “We have a midfielder and a couple of wingers who have been coming to training, I have had a chat with one lad and he looks set to be signing this weekend.

“The players we are looking at are from a higher level and will help add another dimension to our team, especially with Lewis Dennison having left.”

The Seasiders have already secured the signing of pacy forward Danny Earl, who played for Pickering in the NPL North West division last season.

Agnew was also delighted to announce that veteran defender Chris Jenkinson had confirmed he would be playing for Town next season.

He added: “Jenks has a lot of family commitments nowadays as his lads are playing football, but he is going to be with us again next season which is a big boost for us.

“His experience in defence is crucial for us.

“Fellow centre-back Fraser Papprill has been working hard on his fitness since the back end of last season as he’s been doing crossfit training.

“Benn Lewis also impressed last season and if he can repeat that again and keep improving in 2020-21 then we are looking strong, with Jack Bulless and Will Waudby also looking to strengthen their claims.”
