Bridlington Town boss Brett Agnew: We're still in promotion mix
Bridlington Town player-manager Brett Agnew insists that his side are firmly in the promotion hunt.
His side beat league leaders Penistone Church 4-3 on Saturday and Agnew believes the victory has reinvigorated the Seasiders’ promotion push.
He said: “We played really well and to beat the high flying league leaders is definitely a statement of intent.
“Despite gifting them easy goals, we all stuck together and picked up the three points.
“The only negative was the manner in which we conceded the goals but overall it was a pretty good performance.”
Agnew praised his side’s performance, insisting that the margin between the sides could have been bigger.
He added: “Nathan (Keightley) took his two goals extremely well but a loose pass here or a missed tackle there can really cost you at this level.
“We’ve always been in the hunt for promotion and it’s important that we take every game as it comes.”
Agnew’s side sit two pointsbehind second place Staveley Miners Welfare and the Seasiders boss added: “The gap between us and third place is only two points so we’re in touching distance but I’m happy to remain under the eye line and continue to go about our work.
“We have a tough couple of months ahead but I’m hopeful that we can end positively.”
