BRETT AGNEW: We deserved Maltby victory

Saturday’s game was a huge result for us and one that was definitely deserved.

The pitch wasn’t the best and with the strong winds it made it hard for us to play football and get the ball down.

Both sides had chances across the course of the game and we had to dig deep to pick up the full points.

We decided to go with a pretty conventional formation in the first-half and then make changes late on.

As the game began to go stale we decided to bring Chris (Adams) and Lewis (Taylor) on to mix it up.

I knew that it would be a mistake or a bit of quality that would win the game and we took our chance.

It’s been a while since Bridlington have won at Maltby so to pick up the three points was massive for us and keeps us in the hunt.

We have another tough game against Barton Town on Saturday and we will once again have to be at our best to win.

Barton have picked up in recent weeks and will be looking to move up the league.

Our focus needs to be on playing the same and executing our game plans.

I’ve made the decision to change the warm up and the lads have reacted well to it.

I felt like it was a little too relaxed and it’s important that we prepare well so that we’re ready for the game.

I’m currently looking to bring a few players in because I feel we need to strengthen in certain areas.

It’s obvious that lads will leave in search of regular football so we need to fill the gaps with some quality that will help with the final push.
