Beverley Town 2nds remain unbeaten and moved up to second in York Senior League Division One, as they took the lion’s share of the points from their draw against bottom side Sewerby 1sts.
At a dark and wet Norwood, the match had to be reduced due to rain. Beverley lost the toss and were put into bat. Brad Dobson and Rob Fish opened the innings again, adding 31 before Dobson fell for 12.
Tom Norton then joined Fish at the crease and the pair quickly added 52 in just nine overs before Norton played on for 33.
Fish, however, continued to bat well and despite team-mates falling around him, he batted exceptionally well to make 92 not out and lead Beverley to 198/7 off their 34 overs.
Josh Dawson was Sewerby’s bets bowler with 3-45.
Beverley’s bowlers made another excellent start, dismissing Dawson for five.
They continued to take regular wickets as none of the Sewerby batsman were allowed to settle, and only Lewis Beasley (63 not out) looked to offer some resistance.
Ultimately, the visitors did not have enough overs left to chase Beverley’s score down. Beverley’s bowlers bowled well and were all rewarded with Matthew Saint, Jake McMullen and Neil Graham each taking one wicket, Sam Welburn taking two and 15-year-old Tommy Hudson returning 3-19 from his six overs
Sewerby finished on 162/8 and returned home with 11 points.
