The deadline for nominations for the fourth Bridlington Free Press Sports Awards has been extended.
So, if you haven’t yet put forward a suggestion for a team or an individual who deserves recognition, there is still time.
Readers have until Ssunday, January 10 to tell us who are Bridlington’s star performers in 2014, who is the town’s unsung hero and who has spent a lifetime working hard to promote their sport locally.
You can nominate for the following categories:
Sports Person of the Year
Junior Sports Person of the Year (under 18)
Team of the Year
Junior Team of the Year
Club of the Year
Coach of the Year
Services to Junior Sport
Services to Village Sport
In addition, honours will be given out for Outstanding Contribution To The Community Through Sport and a Special Award, with the winners chosen in conjunction with Bridlington Town Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
Further categories may be added if extra sponsors come forward in the near future.
The awards ceremony will take place at Bridlington Rugby Club on Friday 6 March.
To make a nomination, email email@example.com, including who you would like to put forward, for which category, and most importantly, why they deserve an award.
Remember to add your name and contact details.
Sports editor John Edwards said: “We have received some outstanding nominations already and some of the categories are going to be especially difficult to judge.
“But we know there are other people out there who haven’t had a mention yet, and it would be a real shame if they weren’t considered.
“Don’t rely on someone else to make a nomination.”
The event’s main sponsor is again West BS. Categories have been sponsored by Lloyd Dowson, East Riding College, Flamborough Head Golf Club, Bryan Brown, Pineapple Joe’s, Specsavers, Bridlington Round Table, Bridlington Rotary Club and Bridlington Dental Studio.
Any other local businesses wanting to get involved can call the sports desk on 07803 506517.
