West takes four wickets on debut
Oli West had a debut to remember as the Beckett League representative side cruised to victory over their counterparts from the Huddersfield Central League.
The Wold Newton all-rounder took full advantage of his first call-up by finishing as the Scarborough side’s top bowler.
The West Yorkshire side won the toss at North Marine Drive on Sunday and chose to bat first, but the decision soon backfired.
West entered the attack with the Huddersfield side on 31/1, but alongside spinner Linden Gray from Staxton, he ripped out the middle order.
He had Gheewali trapped lbw, Atkin and skipper Cooper caught and then bowled Askey.
The visitors lost seven wickets for just 20 runs, as West finished with figures of 4-15 from his seven overs.
Gray chipped in with 3-16 as Huddersfield eventually limped to 61 all out from 27 overs.
West, who was selected after an impressive start to the 2015 in Division A, was not needed to bat as his team-mates overhauled the target.
Scheduled to bat at number eight, he was able to watch from the pavilion as Nick Gibson’s men got to the total for the loss of four wickets, Chris Dove unbeaten on 27 off just 22 balls, including four fours and a six.
