Grassroots cricket didn’t receive the green light to go ahead until July, and the Beckett League hope a return to a full season will be possible this summer.

SBL secretary Malcolm Maw’s season report ahead of tonight’s (Tuesday) AGM, which is being held virtually due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions, read: "All is being put in place on the hopes that a normal season, of some form or another, will start at the end of April or beginning of May.

"However as times are still uncertain, the league management committee (LMC) will be discussing contingency plans, in the event that continued restrictions dictate the start of the season being delayed.

"If it becomes apparent that contingency plans need to be put in place, the LMC will arrange consultation meetings to discuss plans and ideas with clubs.

"It is hoped that all do get back to playing cricket this summer, but In the meantime we hope all stay safe and remain optimistic."
