Flixton win one-sided junior final

Bridlington U15s were outclassed by Flixton in a one-sided Derwent Valley Junior League’s Division A Knockout Cup final.

Playing on their home ground, Flixton batted first with their first four batsmen Harvey Dixon (33 ret), Will Hutchinson (21), Cameron Anderson (30 ret) and Marley Ward (30 ret) contributing to a final total of 158/3.

Bridlington bowler Jacob O’Brian (1-17) bowled a tight four overs, but he and his team-mates were unable to stop the runs being accumulated.

Despite the efforts of opening batsmen Callum Battams (17) and Louis Beckett (12), Bridlington’s reply finished on a total of 43 all out, with all of Flixton’s bowlers contributing.

Opening bowlers Ellery Lilley (0-4 off four overs) and George Stephenson (2-24) laid the foundations and their good work was , followed by Marley Ward (2-2), Joe Harris (4-1) and Finley Ward (1-2), with Will Hutchinson contributing with three catches.

Prior to the presentation of the Pavilion Cup, Flixton CC were thanked for hosting the final, with special thanks extended to groundsman James Brown.

The man of the match award, adjudicated by umpires John Flinton and Bernard Goulding, was awarded to Marley Ward for his all round batting and bowling display.
