BECKETT PREMIER - Chris Malthouse and Brad Walker's tons steer Scalby to win against Cloughton

The lowly visitors must have fancied their chances of a shock win after posting an imposing 314-3 from their 45 overs.

Pryce struck a superb 109 while Josh Rewcroft fell agonisingly one run short of a ton as they also put on 207 for their first wicket, and Sean Exley weighed in with an excellent 79no.

But Malthouse and Walker had other ideas, the skipper smacking 22 fours and a six and Walker 11 fours and a six as they both made it three figures. Cloughton used nine bowlers in the process, Scalby securing the win with 6.4 overs and eight wickets to spare to stay in the title race.

Chris Morrison also fell one run short of a century, but his innings helped leaders Staithes to a four-wicket victory at Ebberston.

Only Jon Mason (25) impressed in the hosts’ batting order early on, but thankfully the middle order dug them out of a hole as Eddie Swiers crashed 74no with support from James Boyes (36no) and James Wingrove (31).

This helped the home side to a good total of 228-8.

Morrison was the driving force behind the Staithes run-chase, with number eight batsman Matthew Sanderson’s 50no finishing off the job as they made 233-6 in 43 overs.

Ryan Baldry’s powerful 126 not out steered second-placed Filey to an eight-wicket success at home to Mulgrave.

Chris Knight continued his superb form for Mulgrave with a sparkling knock of 76, which included 12 fours, for the visitors as they posted a total of 223-6.

Andy Raw also scored a fine 61 not out, including five forus and two sixes, and Pete Stentiford contributed 51, including three fours and five sixes, as the visitors set the Clarence Drive Club a testing target.

Baldry and Josh Dawson took two wickets apiece for the home side.

All-rounder Baldry then led the way with the ball, hammering six sixes and 11 fours in his stunning century.

Craig Sanderson played a good supporting role to his fellow opener with 41 as Filey won with eight wickets and eight overs to spare.

Bridlington 2nds held their nerve to claim a two-wicket victory at home to Brompton.

The visitors were thankful to fine knocks from keeper Joey Harris (52no) and number eight bat Ross Triffitt (54) to steer them to 195-8, number 10 batsman Michael Thompson also impressing with 27 not out.

Skipper Andy Smith led the way with a superb 3-15 from 10 overs for Brid, while Lewis Beasley and Callum Battams bagged a couple of wickets apiece.

Thompson put in an equally impressive spell of bowling in with 3-23 from his 10 overs, while Tom Fletcher-Varey weighed in with 3-42 from his 10 overs and Tom Bruce took 2-34 from 9.5 overs as the game went down to the wire.

Beasley followed up his fine bowling with a crucial 54, including eight fours, and Matthew Fudge fell one run short of his half-century, also hitting a six and six fours to keep Brid in the contest and Mark Purvis added 27, but a late flurry of wickets looked set to hand victory to Brompton.

The ninth-wicket pairing of Ben Jackson (14no) and Battams (8no) edged Bridlington to the win with 2.2 overs and two wickets to spare.

Another batsman making full use of the conditions was Seamer & Irton veteran David Graham as his brilliant 113 helped his side to an 88-run home win against Staxton.

Opener Graham struck 19 fours in his ton, with support from son Archie (36), Joe Tiffany (34) and Anthony Jenkinson (26) as they posted 277-6, Tom Pratt taking 3-54.

Pratt capped a fine day with 71 and Stephen Hill added 38no, but Staxton fell well short on 189-6, Gaz Lawton taking a superb 3-14 from his 10 overs.
