Rebecca Adlington meets local swimmers at the opening of the new pool.

They have ironed out issues from the opening six weeks in a bid to avoid ‘a competition for space’ in the pools.

Adam Mainprize, senior facility manager at East Riding Leisure Bridlington, said: “We have got off to a phenomenally successful start, with overwhelming interest and support from the public.

“Our first six weeks have included one week of half term holidays, and we have reviewed what has worked well so far, and what we can improve on, before we reach the long summer holiday period.

“We want to be in a position where our members and customers can get the very best out of the centre, and we believe our new swimming programme and online booking system, and other changes at the centre, will allow them to do just that.”

The new programme will run throughout the summer holiday period and details of the new timings for sessions for clubs, members, schools and casual swimmers are available at www.eastridingleisure/bridlington.

Mainprize added: “We have considerably simplified our swimming programme to create a better experience for our customers taking swimming lessons.

“There will now be a varied range of sessions, which will make much better use of the facilities we have available, and avoid the ‘competition for space’ that our users have experienced on occasion.”

There will also be changes to arrangements for car parking at the centre from Saturday, July 16.

Parking will still be available free of charge for customers using the centre, but the period of will reduce from four hours to three.

Mainprize said: “Unfortunately the previous arrangements were being abused by a minority of customers, leading to problems providing enough parking capacity at peak times.”
