A YOUNG Bridlington artist is inviting Free Press readers to contribute to her project highlighting all that is good about the town.
Vicky Bennett, 22, of Trentham Drive, has applied to start a degree course at Leeds College of Art this September and has been asked to submit a project documenting the lives of local people, and how communication can make the world a better place.
She decided to base her project in her Bridlington hometown and is asking local residents and Free Press readers to let her know their favourite sights around the town so that she can paint, draw or photograph them and include them in her project.
Vicky will then upload the images onto her website so that not only will Bridlington residents be able to see their favourite local sights on-screen, but so will the rest of the world.
She said: “I wanted the art project to get the local community involved.
“Being a local girl myself, and having lived in Bridlington all my life, I decided to start an art project to show the world how much of a beautiful town Bridlington is, and how it is held dear in many people’s hearts.
“I am hoping to get as many Free Press readers involved with this as possible - I want to hear of your favourite thing about Bridlington.
“There are no rules as to what it can be – a building, street, event, memory, activity, anything!
“Just something you really enjoy about the town that I can draw or document.
“For this project to really take off I am hoping to hear from locals of all ages.
“I look forward to hearing from you!”
Vicky has already set the ball rolling by drawing and photographing some of her own favourite local sights for the website and anybody who would like to contribute to the project can email her at FavouriteThingAboutBrid@gmail.com and include your name, age and a description of your Favourite Thing.
