A WOMAN diver died this afternoon following an incident in Bridlington Bay.
A dive boat operating in Bridlington Bay alerted the UK Coastguard just after 2.30pm to report that the 60-year-old woman, who had been diving as part of a group, was unconscious but still breathing.
The Humberside-based UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopter airlifted the woman to Hull Royal Infirmary, where she was declared dead on arrival.
A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard agency said a male diver was taken to a hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber as a precaution.
The Flamborough RNLI inshore lifeboat also attended the incident.
Lucy Hicks of Humber Coastguard, said: “This is a very sad outcome and our thoughts are with the lady’s friends and all those who tried to help her.”
