X-Factor runner up and singer Marcus Collins “did not show up for rehearsals and then subsequently withdrew altogether” from his role in a production which will perform in Bridlington.
Marcus had been contracted to play the role of the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, alongside fellow X Factor finalist Lloyd Daniels, at The Spa Bridlington Tuesday 17 to Saturday 21 March.
But the production company he was contracted with said he failed to turn up to rehearsals and then cancelled all together without reason.
A spokesperson for the production company, Bill Kenwright Ltd, said: “We have been advised by his agent that Marcus Collins has withdrawn from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Marcus was contracted to appear from 3rd February up to 6th June 2015, but he did not show up for rehearsals and then subsequently withdrew altogether. Without ever performing.
“No reason has been given by Marcus or his management.
“As this is an ongoing matter, no further comment is available at this time.”
The Spa confirmed X-Factor 2011 finalist Amelia Lilly will take over the role and that the show will go on as planned.
No stranger to the bright lights, Amelia was the support act for Girls Aloud’s farewell tour in 2013, and for Olly Murs at the INTRO Festival.
The Middlesbrough-born singer almost missed out on becoming an X Factor finalist after she was eliminated early on in the competition, much to the shock of the viewers. She was brought back in after a fellow contestant was disqualified, and was reinstated by a public vote, resulting in her nickname the “Comeback Kid”.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat will play the Spa Bridlington on Tuesday 17 March through to Saturday 21 March.
