The message being sent out today is please take care even if you are walking to your destination.

Motorists can reduce the chances of a collision while driving in such conditions by simply allowing extra time for your journey, giving vehicles in front of you more space, allowing extra time to slow your vehicle prior to junctions and sharp bends or avoiding roads which may not have been treated.

The areas and routes that have been affected by the weather are:

The A180 both in and out of Grimsby is currently subject to black ice and very low temperatures some as low as -11.5 degrees. This is causing a lot of problems for drivers. Please take extra care if using this road.

In Grimsby there is traffic on Bargate, Scartho Road, Louth Road and Waltham Road heading into the town centre. Please try and avoid this area if possible.

In and around Grimsby and Scunthorpe driving conditions are particularly bad as freezing fog has started to appear. Please take extra care when travelling in North and North East Lincolnshire.

On the M180 close to junction 2 visibility is down to around 50 meters.

On the M62 towards Howden fog patches are causing low visibility and temperatures have plummeted to around -14 degrees.

On the A63 fog patches are causing low visibility and temperatures have plummeted to around -9 degrees.
