Reporter Hannah Worrall and photographer Paul Atkinson spent a day with Humberside Police to observe how they train for the use of tasers.
Tasers have been used by Humberside Police in Bridlington as a means to control violence or dangerous situations since 2008.
Over the past two years only 33% of taser usage in East Yorkshire involved actually firing the barbs, while the majority of incidents did not involve the charge being deployed.
However public perception of tasers, which when fired can discharge 50,000 volts of electricity into the body to cause neuromuscular incapacitation (NMI), is often negative.
