Two men were killed when a private charter helicopter crashed into cliffs before plummeting into the sea near Flamborough Head Golf Club.

The helicopter was flying from Edinburgh when it crashed near Selwick Bay, Flamborough between the lighthouse and Flamborough Head golf course at around 1.40pm.

It was due to refuel at Humberside Airport before continuing to its destination near Retford, Nottinghamshire.

A huge rescue operation involving the air ambulance, the coast guard and air sea rescue was launched.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
