Residents were on track for a day of marvel and intrigue at an event which showcased the most superb model railways the area has to offer.
The event, which was organised by Bridlington Area Railway Modellers and Train Enthusiasts Society (BARMATES), saw hundreds of townsfolk alight at Christchurch Hall to enjoy a day of exploring impressively detailed layouts, and stunningly realistic miniature trains.
“This was the first year we have asked visitors to vote for their favourite layout,” said chairman of the BARMATES David Bannister.
“Nearly 400 visitors attended the show which featured layouts constructed by the Bridlington society, as well as layouts built by individual members.”
However, the event was not exclusive to just Bridlington hobbyists, and model train enthusiasts from all over the region descending on Bridlington to showcase their prized locomotives and layouts
Many of the layouts themselves featured near-perfect replicas local stations, including Batterdale, Goole and Lea Green Yard from Scunthorpe.
Some of them were based on more far-away locations, including a model Edison Court Station based in Chicago, and another American inspired layout called Duncan’s Mine.
The winning layout as voted for by visitors was titled Goathland, and was built by members the Scarborough and District Model Railway Society.
